Thanks to new tent technology, there are some fantastic new options out there! The tents in this list are great to use any time of year, and they are built to last for years and years. That wrong email response, coupled with the fact they failed to mention the weight on the Amazon webpage. However, the company didn't read carefully the simple question I sent them, and replied with the weight of the hardware instead of the heavier part which is the canvas. Thinking I might be able to transport in two trips, first the canvas, then the hardware. To rationalize keeping it, I emailed the WhiteDuck company to ask how much the tent itself weighted without the poles, stakes, and hardware (canvas only). If it was 20 lbs lighter, I would have happily kept it. The ship box stamp said "Made in Pakistan." But the WhiteDuck company website and marketing info subtly gives the impression it's made in USA. The specs suggest it's a good tent, but just too heavy and bulky to lug around to campsites. A 7x9 foot tent should be light enough for one person to pick up. I gave it only 3-stars because I think it's too heavy for even car-camping. So I sent it back without even opening the box. It was much too heavy to lift and handle single-handed. This Prota was the smallest size they make and it weighed 70+ lbs in shipping box. I hope and believe my tent will last many years unlike many of my thinner backpacking type tents. You will not be disappointed in this product.
I find that I move the stakes bag, the poles bag, and the canvas bag separately, but this is just something to be aware of. My tent weighs like 100 pounds and I struggle to move it on my own. One thing to note is the weight of the tent. I recommend it to everyone who wants a nicer camping set up but doesn’t necessarily want to invest in an RV….

I bought some LED string lights, a large portable battery, a small propane heater, and willpo roll up memory foam pads, also found on Amazon, and I absolutely love my tent set up. It is also very pretty! I spent a month in it in the desert and a month in it in the mountains and it endured the elements extremely well.

The zippers are quality, the windows provide good ventilation, and the tent is weatherproof and good with the wind. But even as a single small woman I am able to set up the tent myself. Staking it down takes the most effort so you definitely need to be on a surface that you can stake into. It is actually not hard to set up even though it is A very big tent. Recently I started spending much longer periods of time outside as I am pursuing more climbing and so I invested in this tent. I love this tent! I have been spending significant periods of time outdoors as a rock climber for the last 13 years and have owned many quality tents.
